Librarian (Part-Time): Cataloging – Sunnyvale Public Library
The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of part-time Librarian in Technical Services with an energetic and highly motivated individual who possesses excellent cataloging, customer service, technical and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing original and copy cataloging based on current standards, database maintenance, authority control, and resolving cataloging problems to aid in the maintenance of the online catalog. Key responsibilities also include developing best-practices and staying current with trends and policies in cataloging and material processing to enhance patron services, updating and training other technical services staff, quality control assessment of vendor-provided catalog records, building and preserving digital collections, batch record processing, and representing the Technical Services staff as a database liaison and internal authority on automation issues.
The Cataloging & Metadata Librarian works under the direction of the Supervising Librarian and other management staff in a team-oriented and forward-thinking environment. Under general supervision, performs a full range of professional library duties in support of assigned functions; and performs other duties as required.
