The UC Santa Cruz University Library seeks a resource sharing expert with exceptional management, leadership, communication, and data analysis skills to join the User Services & Resource Sharing department as the Head of Interlibrary Loan.

Interlibrary Loan advances and supports the University’s research, teaching, and public service missions. Under the general direction of the Director of User Services & Resource Sharing, the incumbent provides management, oversight, and coordination of the Interlibrary Loan Unit, as well as leadership within the larger User Services & Resource Sharing Department. This position has broad responsibility for ensuring that Interlibrary Loan staff provides effective and positive public service. The incumbent is required to have extensive knowledge of Interlibrary Loan principles and procedures and an expert level of functional expertise. This position represents the library locally, by working public service desk shifts, and UC-wide, by serving on groups within the UC Libraries Advisory structure. ILL team members adhere to and support the UCSC Principles of Community.

The selected candidate will lead a high production unit, supervise and perform complex library duties, and provide direction to staff on policies and practices that often do not have clear guidelines. Work is performed independently within a framework of established guidelines, and the selected candidate will exercise initiative, originality, and judgment in applying established library principles and practices to new and unusual problems. As a Library Supervisor 2, this position has responsibility for policy decisions, organizational planning, budget and resource allocations, personnel decisions, and sets short and long term objectives for the unit.
