Information Technology (IT) Director, Peninsula Library System
The Peninsula Library System, located in San Mateo, California, is recruiting for an Information Technology (IT) Director. The IT Director reports to the Executive Director and assumes broad responsibilities for oversight of the system’s technology operations of the Peninsula Library System (PLS) as well as for other contracting organizations and agencies.
PLS supports a wide area network between the 34 libraries with a 10G backbone, as well as a shared integrated library system (Innovative Interface’s Sierra) and hardware to support the libraries. The IT Director supervises a technology unit of four staff, who provide excellent technical support and IT services for the member libraries to ensure network and security integrity and provide services that reflect the cutting edge of library technology. The IT Director ensures the IT Department is responsive, effective and functioning within the limits of budget, time and specifications of the organization.
PLS is in the heart of Silicon Valley, and library patrons expect the best customer service experience. The successful candidate is an experienced IT Manager who can balance the needs of patrons, libraries, and other stakeholders. They demonstrate integrity, are familiar with the security needs of libraries and patron data, have sound fiscal management, and exhibit excellent management skills.
