Librarian – Technology Services – Sunnyvale Public Library
The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the full-time position of Librarian – Technology Services with a highly motivated, forward-thinking, usability-focused, collaborative candidate to implement, maintain, and assess library systems and library-related technology which enhance discovery and access of library materials. The Technology Services Librarian will serve as the work lead for Library systems and technology encompassing library hardware and software, the library website, and other technologies that address the diverse and changing community needs. They will also strive to problem solve, trouble shoot, improve existing processes, and help others learn new technology skills.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic, detail-oriented, and innovative individual with experience maintaining or implementing core library systems including Integrated Library System- ILS software (Sierra), patron discovery layer software (BiblioCore), automated materials handling sorter hardware/software (Bibliotheca), self-check hardware/software (Bibliotheca), room reservation and equipment management software (LibCal), virtual reference and chat software (LibAnswers), patron pc reservation (MyPC) and printing (PaperCut) and wifi printing (ePrintIT) hardware/software, and electronic resources. Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with staff and vendors are important for this position. In addition, the ideal candidate should have an interest in learning new technologies and optimizing the user experience for people using the library’s online services. The candidate will have an awareness of library trends, familiarity with vendors of library technology products and the ability to work independently.
