Database Evaluation Period Now Open
On December 8, 2011 vendors from EBSCO, Gale/Cengage, and ProQuest presented their database offerings to staff throughout the Pacific Library Partnership. Contracts with vendors are expiring as of June 30, 2012 and your help is needed to evaluate and select databases for the new contract period.
Our objective is to allow members to select single, unbundled products from any vendor. This is your opportunity to provide input to the purchasing process. The trial will last until January 31, 2012. To participate in the evaluation process, please visit each of the vendor trial sites below and test as many databases as possible. You will also find links to the vendors support sites which contain useful training and product information.
Please remember Fill out a brief survey form for each database. A task force will compile the results, work with members to determine how many libraries are interested in subscribing to the products, and develop pricing information from vendors that is based on the level of member interest.
NOTE: If you were unable to attend the vendor demonstrations you may view them here:

1. EBSCO magazine/jrn search is good and fairly easy to figure out, intuitively. Not all promised titles are actually available though.
2. EBSCO legal resources also pretty easy to use, seems relevant and useful for public libraries. Not necessarily clear they are re-packaging NOLO titles. Would be better if that were more obvious.
